Here we are, a new month, Autumn in New York, Springtime for Australia and a third wonderful interview to be enjoyed by Frain fans everywhere. Yay for us! These will make their way to our Press page here eventually where we hope they shall continue to be enjoyed.
From Movie Web:

Actor James Frain is best known to TV audiences as vampire Franklin Mott from HBO's runaway hit series True Blood, but film audiences will have a chance to see the actor in a whole new light this fall when he appears in the long-awaited sequel to the classic '80s film Tron, entitled Tron: Legacy.
In the film Frain plays Jarvis, the right-hand "program" and chief intelligence officer to the film's villain CLU (Jeff Bridges), a new incarnation to Kevin Flynn's (also Jeff Bridges) original hacking program. The movie doesn't even open until December, but we were among the lucky few to get invited earlier this week to the Disney lot in Burbank to see some of the exclusive footage from the upcoming film.
While we can't give you too many details on specifically what we saw, we can tell you that we had the chance to screen the official trailer in 3D, and watch the footage that was shown at Comic-Con. As well as a few additional scenes. All in all we saw roughly thirty minutes of the film, give or take. And in a word...It was freaking awesome!
The effects, which were not even finalized yet, looked amazing. The action is great and the film's plot is original and clever. We can't wait for the film's official release later this year, and think that fans of the original, and even sci-fi fans that have never seen the first film, are going to be blown away by the state of the art effects and the movie's loving homage to its predecessor. After the screening, we had an opportunity to speak with actor James Frain about his role in the movie, the direction of the new film, the filmmaker's love for the original, and working opposite the younger version of Jeff Bridges. Here is what he had to say:
To begin with, what can you tell us about Jarvis, the character that you play in the film?
James Frain: Inside the digital world, the bad guy, the evil guy CLU, I'm like his right hand man. But I'm completely inept. I'm a clown and a fool. I spend most of my time trying to not get killed. My head is shaved and I'm wearing kind of this visor Mohawk. The character kind of feels like he should be this dark, terrible person but then you realize he's just kind of trying to get by. He's constantly trying to please. He's funny and it's an unusual spin on this dark, heavy, earnest world where anything that is human kind of pops.
Is your character the comic relief of the film?
James Frain: Yeah, I think so but not in a very obvious way. It's like, is he funny or is he scary? Its kind of like True Blood but without the sex.
Actor Michael Sheen also plays a similar role in the film, correct?
James Frain: Yeah but he brings a whole different energy to it. We're the funny guys basically, the British funny guys.
When the original was released in the '80s it blew people's minds because no one had seen anything like that before on film, do you think this new movie will blow people away as well?
James Frain: I kind of compared it to Star Wars really because I think what blows their minds is when they are moved by a story and they are taken away to another world. That's what this does. It sucks you in and then spits you out the other end. If it is just visually impressive then there is nothing to attach to, you don't care. But if people invest in the story and are moved by the story, which I'm pretty sure they will be then all the visuals just heighten it and intensifies the sense of being somewhere else. But I don't know ... I've seen a lot of s#*t but I've never seen anything like this. I think it's going to be sick.
Were you a fan of Original before you took the role in this film?
James Frain: You know I didn't see it as a kid so when I saw it, it wasn't cutting edge it was kind of retro. I mean there are still concepts that are great like the Light cycles and the idea of a guy going into a computer. So you are watching it as an adult watching something retro but I think for people that saw it at the time it was amazing.
Do you think in a sense the sequel was a chance to tell the story again fin a new way for a whole new generation?
James Frain: I think it will be a nice little earner in DVD sales when they come out with the double box set and they'll probably make a sequel to this. What they've done is taken something that was kind of over there and then they've reinvented it as mainstream. I thought what they were going to do was remake it. But they went one better, which is they did a sequel twenty-seven years later and Jeff Bridges is still in the computer and his son goes back to find him. That's a great idea! That works without the first movie. Then you can go watch it, watch the first movie and then watch it again.
Is that what really got you jazzed to do this movie?
James Frain: Well the script was really good and just to be in a sequel to Tron. Well they were remaking Tron, basically is what we knew, some version of Tron. So it was going to have to be incredible. You can't do a half a**, medium budget version. You know what I mean? Not after Avatar. It makes sense because you're not going to remake Star Wars because it's a perfect movie. It's a movie event. didn't land the same way Star Wars did over here. It had a great concept so you can take the concept, re-imagine it and kick it somewhere else. I mean that's smart to me.
In the film, most of your scenes are opposite the thirty-five year old version of Jeff Bridges so when you are doing those scenes who are you actually acting against?
James Frain: I was acting with two people, one guy who was the body of CLU. Then I did the scene again with Jeff Bridges with the spots, the dots and the cameras. Then afterwards they would take his head and put it on the body of the other guy and make him youthful. So I was acting with both of those guys.
Do you think getting Jeff Bridges to come back and reprise his two roles was essential to making this movie work?
James Frain: Yes, I mean how could they not bring him back. Look he just won the Oscar and now he's playing both of the two lead guys. He's the good guy and the bad guy. They honor the first film as if it was Star Wars. As if it were a venerable mythology, which it is to the people who love it. So I have respect for the people who made it, respected it, cared about it, wanted to honor it, wanted to make it mainstream and there is a real love for the original. They were very careful, like with rewrites and stuff. They'd say, "Oh you can't say that, that's not Tron." They were steeped in it. They wanted it to be bigger and better but absolutely Tron.
Finally, the film has been in production for several years because of all the complicated effects, when exactly did you shoot your scenes for the movie and how did you like this new way of working?
James Frain: A year and a half ago in Vancouver and they are still working on it now. I shot that before I did True Blood and a bunch of other stuff. I'm just excited that the movie is finally coming out. I mean I play a role in it, don't get me wrong. I'm in it and I'm excited for the experience. I want my kids to see it and for my friends to see it. I know it will be huge. People say, "Really though? Will women like it?" I'm like, "Don't even worry about it." It's going to be everything people want to see. It's going to be good. If anyone comes out of this and is like, "Nah." I'm going to say that they have serious problems and I don't know how to entertain them. What do you want? It's like being in London and going to a great club. You think its fantastic and then some guy is like, "You should have been here last week." I mean I haven't seen anything like this before. I have this scene in there somewhere and I've seen a bit of it cut together. I have this big speech that I give to this huge assembly of thousands of programs and things are flying through the air, all kinds of s#*t and it was just me and the camera in a blue room. That was really cool when you see that happen. It's like theater. You just pretend. That's what CGI has done. It has made everything an imaginary world again. Because the imagination has become completely liberated so you can pretend you see it and they can pretend its there. I think it's kind of exciting.
Tron: Legacy comes to theaters December 17th, 2010 and stars Jeff Bridges, Michael Sheen, Olivia Wilde, Garrett Hedlund, Serinda Swan, Bruce Boxleitner, John Hurt, Beau Garrett. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski.

Clearly, James Frain profile in Hollywood is on the rise. His involvement in so many projects on the small screen, large screen and the odd stage and radio studios could make a lesser human (that's right, he's not actually a vampire) crumble. But here he is, with a second interview being published within four days of one another. He's bound to be getting more comfortable with the publicity and the queries. Take lots of vitamins and get your rest Mr. Frain!
The following is an interview focusing on his work on Tron: Legacy. It's from Collider.com:
by Christina Radish Posted:September 27th, 2010 at 10:44 am
In Tron: Legacy, out in theaters on December 17th, actor James Frain plays Jarvis, the main henchman and right-hand man to Clu, a master program created in Kevin Flynn's (Jeff Bridges) image to help oversee the expansion of the digital grid. Jarvis appears to be proficient in intelligence gathering for the evil overlord, but is actually completely inept and may also have a personal agenda of his own.
During a long-lead press day held at Digital Domain this past Saturday – in which select members of the press were shown footage along with various gadgets, games, toys and behind-the-scenes workings of what it's taking to bring the highly-anticipated film to the big screen– James Frain did this exclusive interview with Collider, in which he talked about playing one of the more human and fallible characters in the Grid, working in a helmet that almost entirely cut off his sight, and how mind-blowing the dynamics of the film are. He also discussed his attraction to intense characters, revealed that he had fun playing the despicable Franklin Mott on this past season of HBO's True Blood and how interesting and complex his next villainous character will be, in the upcoming NBC superhero series The Cape. Check out what he had to say after the jump.
How did you originally get involved with Tron: Legacy? Did something specific attract you to this role?
JAMES FRAIN: It was just part of the regular round of castings. As movies and TV projects come up, they go out to the agents and we just go out and audition for them. Realizing what you could potentially be involved in was very exciting, but no one really knew that much. They've been very good at controlling the information. There wasn't a script. It was just sides, which just had a couple of scenes. What you knew was that, if Disney felt confident to remake Tron, you knew they had to have some big ideas and they were going to push the envelope and spend some money and make an experience happen. But, right at the beginning, it was just like, "Go and audition for Tron," and I was like, "Sure, I'd love to!"
Had you been familiar with the original film, or had you been a fan of it at all?
FRAIN: No, I wasn't someone who saw it when I was a kid. I didn't see it until a friend of mine, in horror, couldn't believe that I didn't know what a Light Cycle was. He took me to Blockbuster and we rented the movie, so that I could finally be part of the experience. But, I didn't have the child's encounter with it. It means a lot to a lot of people, but they're a very specific audience. It wasn't like Star Wars. I've got a feeling that this film is going to be more like Star Wars than the original Tron.
Since not much is known about your character, what can you say about who Jarvis is and how he fits into the world of Tron?
What was it like to go through the process of working with Clu and having to act opposite both Jeff Bridges with a helmet and a body double, in order to do that effect later?
How was the look for this character created? Was it a collaborative process at all, or did Jarvis already look this way when you were cast in the role?
What was it like to act through the helmet? Did that ever get uncomfortable or claustrophobic?
Did you find it to be distracting while you were working, or did it really help you to get into the character?
With all of the action and technology in this film, do you think there's anything specific that will particularly impress audiences when they see it?
What I find mind-blowing about it is just how inventive and dynamic they've been. I think people are going to love the Light Cycles, the Recognizer, the games and stuff, but for me, it's that sense of being in this total immersion experience in this other world that you've become completely lost in, like you did in Avatar or Alice in Wonderland.
Is it a bizarre experience, as an actor, to now see yourself in 3D?
Did you go back and do any re-shoots on this, or was your stuff all done at one time?
What's it like to do so much press for a film that's not even done yet and that you haven't even gotten to see? Do you think it makes it more difficult to live up to all of that hype?
I honestly think that this film is going to live up to the hype. It's just sharing the experience. This was the first time most of the cast has seen any of the film, and we were all like, "Holy s#*t! Wow!" Because we know that the story is good and the story delivers, it's really exciting to think how all these pieces have come together. And, it's not finished. They're still working on it. We're all going to see it at the same time, for the first time, and it's going to be really exciting. It's going to blow people away.
With this being such a massive film for Joe Kosinski to take on for his first feature, what was it like to work with him?
He was into the story and he was into the script, and he wanted to make the scenes as alive and real as possible. It was really impressive that he had the mental space and focus to get to that because there was so much that he could have been overwhelmed with. I don't know how he did it. It never occurred to me that we weren't in completely safe hands. What he's done is an amazing achievement for anyone, but for someone as their first film, it's beyond belief.
You've played quite a few intense characters in your career. Is there something that draws you to that kind of character, or are they just fun to play, as an actor?
Was it particularly difficult to do some of your scenes on this past season of True Blood, especially when your character, Franklin, was terrorizing Tara (Rutina Wesley)? Is it hard to get to that place?
Who is the villain you're going to be playing in the upcoming NBC superhero series The Cape? Will viewers get to learn why your character is the way he is?
I play this guy that is a billionaire entrepreneurial figure who, in some ways, is a heroic figure in our landscape, but recently we've started to discover that some of these guys aren't perhaps as trustworthy or as decent as we would have hoped, and he occupies that sphere, but in superhero world. So, he already has a tremendous amount of control, but as with all these guys, it's never enough.
We're going to discover what it is that motivates him and what he wants, but there are layers that peel back in the story, about connections with other characters, that are very interesting. There is a showdown with the good guy that pushes through the series.

James Frain made a big impression as Franklin Mott on True Blood this season … a big impression full of crazy, psychopathic, lovesick lunacy. He was so intense and so brilliant that he's become a fan favorite and many mourned Franklin's true death. We had an opportunity recently to ask Frain a few questions about his role as Tara's unwanted suitor and about his other roles, getting to know a little better the awesome British actor behind Franklin Mott.
TB-N: You landed your first role in Shadowlands (1993) directed by Richard Attenborough, who discovered you when you were in your third year at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. What was it like to begin your career with such an important film? Did that role change your life in any way?
JF: I think I was the only guy on that set who didn't have a knighthood. Lucky break is too small a term. Shadowlands gave me my career.
JF: Hopkins is one of the greats; watching the intensity of his concentration up close was inspiring. On set he's relaxed and fun, and he's a brilliant mimic. He's of the work-hard-but-don't-take-yourself-too-seriously school, and that had a big influence on me.
TB-N: You are a popular face on TV, having appeared in shows like "The Closer," "24," "Invasion," "Californication" … and especially "The Tudors." What are your favorite TV shows? What's the show you have enjoyed acting in the most?
JF: I enjoyed all of them in different ways, but 'The Tudors' stands out because it was my first experience of working on a character over several years. My all time favorite TV show? HBO's 'The Wire.'
TB-N: And it was in The Tudors where you portrayed for the first time a subject of a sanguinare King. You magnificently brought to life again to Sir Thomas Cromwell, King Henry VIII's councilor. Did you enjoy being under Cromwell's skin?
JF: I imagined how Cromwell might have seen himself; as a good man doing God's work, and I was fascinated by the contradictions in his personality. I enjoyed putting the pieces of the puzzle together, and I appreciated how generous writer Michael Hirst was with his process.
TB-N: It's a busy year for you. You've been working recently on the much anticipated sequel to "Tron," "Tron Legacy," with Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde (releasing in Dec.). Can you tell us a bit about your character, Jarvis?
JF: Jarvis is the Chief of Secret Police within 'Tron' World, but he's completely inept. He spends most of his time trying not to get killed.
TB-N: And you are also sharing the screen with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film "Water for Elephants", where you play an elephant caretaker…
JF: Rosie the elephant is a total pro and a major scene stealer. She's going to be a big star.
TB-N: Seems you've jumped from one villain to another; you play an evil billionaire in the upcoming NBC superhero drama series "The Cape." Is the project confirmed after filming the pilot?
JF: Not all billionaires are the of the loving kind. Peter Flemming has complicated family issues which he resolves by adopting creepy disguises and doing terrible things. Only one man can stop him (although this may take a few seasons). The Cape starts airing in January 2011.
TB-N: We've read that you live in Los Angeles. Being born in Leeds and raised in Essex, do you miss living and working in the UK? What are you into when not acting?
JF: When I'm not acting I like hanging out with my kids, drawing, and cooking. I get to travel to Europe a lot for work so that helps keep me connected to the UK.
TB-N: You have been a regular on the stage in the UK, appearing with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal Court Theatre, and now you're a vampire on True Blood. How did your stage training prepare you for playing a psychotic, love-sick vampire?
JF: Shakespeare wrote genre (although vampire wasn't as hip then) and his villains are complex, funny, scary, and tragic. So I guess that's a pretty good build up to Franklin.
TB-N: Had you ever watched True Blood before you auditioned for the role of Franklin Mott?
JF: I knew it was a phenomenon but I hadn't caught up yet, but I found it useful going in without any preconceptions. I had a couple of scenes from the first few episodes to work with. I didn't know what was going to happen. I read with Rutina to make sure we had chemistry. We started shooting about a week later.
TB-N: While True Blood is known for its intense characters and risqué plots, Franklin Mott entered the season with a whole new whirlwind of crazy. Although he's a villain, fans really enjoyed the character … a lot. Did you expect such an overwhelming reaction to Franklin?
JF: I didn't anticipate about how people might react, and I had no idea what was coming. I feel very grateful for how enthusiastic the response has been.
TB-N: And you got a chance to live for yourself the fan love at Comic-Con. Was this your first experience at such a crazed event?
JF: It was my first time and I had a blast. There's a celebratory atmosphere – people get to feel a part of the shows they love. It was cool to see people dressed as zombies and superhero's just hanging out in San Diego's cafe's and bars.
TB-N: What did you like best about playing the role of Franklin Mott? What has been the biggest challenge?
JF: I liked Franklin's sense of humor, and how he didn't have a clue how crazy he is. The challenge was keeping all the elements in play without losing the balance. I'm still holding out for a spin off-show – I'm thinking something along the lines of 'Flavor of Love.'
TB-N: You seem to have a great sense of humor based on other interviews we've read. Were there any scenes when you struggled not to laugh on set?
JF: The texting scene cracked me up. The writers kept coming up with great ideas for Franklin but speed texting? That was comedy gold.
TB-N: Franklin is deliciously psychotic. Is there anything specific you do to you prepare for that?
JF: Franklin doesn't know he's psychotic. I think he'd be upset if you told him that.
TB-N: Ok, we won't tell him then. Let's talk about love. You have filmed sex scenes before; how would you compare True Blood's neck biting sex scenes to what you have done in the past?
JF: The teeth make you talk like Elmer Fudd. Not so sexy.
TB-N: Hah! We guess it takes some training to get used to it. Anyway, you didn't look like Elmer Fudd to us. OK, we can't resist. Those silk jammies were hot. Did you get to keep them?
JF: I'm wearing them right now.
TB-N: Sexy! Thank you James for being such a nice dude.
And thank you again True Blood's Nest for the great share. We warmly recommend anyone who enjoys True Blood to visit this well done site. They have many wonderful interviews with actors from the series, contests and other participation from TB actors, plus news, links, interactive content and a tender Memorial page dedicated to the dead and the truly dead characters from the series. Some GREAT thoughts and insights on Season 3 of True Blood from a wonderful blog called Annie de la Dolce. Particularly compelling are her thoughts on James Frain's Franklin Mott. She's a wonderful and wise woman this Annie, a terrific writer and her blog entry is a good chew. I hate to admit, but sometimes I don't realize just how bad an acting job is until someone else points it out, I'm that eager to enjoy what I'm watching. Three such well pointed out poor acting jobs leap to mind - Kevin Costner in Robin Hood, Hayden Christiansen in, well a few things, but Star Wars first of all, and now Even Rachel Wood in True Blood. I thought I just didn't like the character, but no, upon consideration of Annie de la Dolce, I think it's true, it's more about the acting! Hmmm....
Now, back to Mott - I strongly encourage all to read the full delightful blog entry, but here are her wonderful words on Mott:
5. Franklin Mott. I love when the show takes an extremely minor character from the books and fleshes them out to be much more interesting. The actor, James Frain, was phenomenal. He was a HORRIBLE a****le psychopath who tortured poor Tara... but he was a lot of fun to watch (especially in his scenes with Talbot)... and I feel kind of terrible writing that. See, it's the actor. If this character would have been given to someone less-talented, I never would have cared a bit about this sub-plot (I'm looking at you Hotshot, Mickens, Arlene, and All-American-Football Guy), but since James Frain rocked the f'ing house with this role, I loved every minute he was onscreen (yeah, I'm looking at you Evan Rachel Wood). Though I have to say... the a****le deserved to die. Good for you, Jason... you finally made use of those wooden bullets.
Terrific and entertaining observations. Thanks to Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain and the blog author Annie for the fun.

The last episode in the rollicking swampcooler known as "True Blood," airs tonight.
HBO's sanguine potboiler of high camp dramedy served up Southern Gothic style was a humdinger this season, punctuated by brilliant guest stars that made the series an sexy escapist Sunday night romp in the bayou.
Now we have to put our vamps to bed and wait until another year, and with so many questions.
Will Sookie (Anna Paquin) keep her magical fairie blood? Will Pam (Kristin Bauer) keep delivering the snark? Baby vamp Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), the night shift gal at Merlotte's gifted with the most glorious head of natural red hair in all of television, will the premature fanger stay with Hoyt (Jim Parrack)?
Same for our Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), who loves his crazy mama (Alfre Woodard) and his cousin, the tortured Tara (Rutina Wesley) who sports the most ripped arms next to Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) on the series. Lafayette is the heart of the series for me.
Speaking of ripped, our reigning hunks of Bon Temps include Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and earthy wolf-man Alcide (Joe Manganiello), who we lucky fans got to see partially naked this season.
Queen Sophie Anne (Evan Rachel Woods) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) were both a bit of a wet noodle this season, with Bill telling Snookie half-truths and nearly draining her dry in the truck, and Sophie-Anne buckling fast and hard under King Russell's demands.
Merlotte's saw new waitress Holly Cleary (Lauren Bowles) introduced, a whole new type, a bonafide Wiccan. And then poor demon-plagued Sam, (Sam Trammell) will he find peace from his dodgy past of thievery and murder? Are we saddled with the icky Mickens for yet another season? I still have post traumatic-stress disorder from seeing Joe Lee (Cooper Huckabee) walking around in his stretched out tighty whities.
Then there is Sookie's kin, cousin Hadley, (Lindsey Haun) the skittish and scared ex lover of Queen Sophie-Anne and mother to a son who possesses Sookie's mind-reading skills. Where will Ball and company take us with that dangling thread?
Which brings me to the star standout guest players of this season:
James Frain, of "The Tudors" fame who just stole the show as Franklin, the psychotic codependent kidnapping vamp obsessed with Tara. He perished too soon in my opinion. And the King, (Denis O'Hare) resplendent as the elder vamp Russell Edgington, grieving his lover Talbot's (Theo Alexander) true death at the hands of Eric.
Another shout out for the imperious Magister (Zelijko Ivanek), who made Eric nearly wet himself, and Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck) who gave Pam a run for her money in the bitch department.
Debbie Pelt (Brit Morgan) gets kudos for the best zinger of the season, wailing to Russell, "they killed my Cooter," and that very grimy werewolf Cooter (Grant Bowler) was a walking PSA for all kids to see what havoc drugs will play with you.
Another player of note is Claudine (Lara Pulver) the faerie who reveals to Sookie who she is, and also to Bill in a dream like watery sequence.
The series has taken us to the edge with Sookie's realization of who she is and why they (vampires) are attracted to her. She considers a new life without Bill – or vamps and Tara and Sam satisfy a long-brewing passion. Sookie's dim, erstwhile brother Jason is flirting with disaster once again with shifter (and shifty) Crystal and her trash relatives.
And our Lafayette, the Jennifer Aniston of True Blood, is dating Jesus, who just may be some sort of horrible south-of-the-border demon. Sookie is captured by King Russell, and now the fate of our heroine waitress is hanging in the balance. After dining on Sookie's blood, Russell is lured into the light by crafty Eric, whose exact feelings for Sookie, and Pam, are an enigma. Scandinavians keep their emotional cards close to their chests.
Who did it for you this season? Did it top the MaryAnne the Maenad storyline prior? For those who have read the Harris novels (I have not) that the series is adapted from by Alan Ball, who will you miss? What do you predict will be the focus of next season?

Thanks to Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain and to Valentine who first posted it there on Facebook, we have this wee video from Transit which is filming now. Co-star Diora Baird took this short peek of a moment on location and posted it on Twitter. Thanks for sharing one and all. What fun.
Oh and mind the potty mouths in the video.
We are taking a short pause in Frain man news to wish ourselves "Many Happy Returns of the Day" for now we are eight years on the Internet as a fan site celebrating our great admiration for the talented Mr. Frain. He is having his best year yet, we dare say and it has been a joy to behold. James Frain has been serving up amazing performance after amazing performance and his acting is that rare medium that is well done!
Many thanks to all of our guests who share our admiration or are just the Frain-curious. We've had a blast sharing over these eight years and look forward to many, many more. Thank you James Frain for never disappointing and for giving us all so many characters to enjoy, fear and ponder over.
August 26, 2010

Thanks to our Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain we found this clip from this Sundays upcoming episode "The King George Job" in which the team finds out that an antiquities trafficker is using refugee children as mules to smuggle artifacts, they travel to London to lure him into an Auction House scam. James Frain will play the antiquities trafficker Mr. Keller. Premieres on TNT Sunday August 29 at 9:00 PM.
Yes, yes, he is the bad guy. And picking on refugee children - the scumbum! But, the great thing about Leverage is that they are so delightfully good at getting justice done in an entertaining way. "Mr. Keller" will be brilliantly played and properly punished! We're sure Mr. Frain will be carrying his own in this excellent series amongst this stellar cast.
It seems that if we wish to see James in a fun or good guy role, we'll have to dust off our old copies of "Where the Heart Is," "What Rats Won't Do," or the terrific "Armadillo." Don't worry James, we know you have range!

Jim Caviezel has been cast in the After Dark Films thriller "Transit." He joins Elisabeth Rohm, Harold Perrineau and Diora Baird in the Antonio Negret-directed project, which also has cast James Frain.
In the story line, thieves on the run from a bank robbery come across a suburban family on its way to a camping trip. When the criminals stash their stolen money in the family's SUV at a rest stop, the road trippers, with Caviezel as the protective father, unwittingly draw the murderous band of outlaws on their trail.
Courtney Solomon is producing the project, and Joel Silver is an executive producer. Michael Gilvary ("According to Greta") wrote the screenplay.
The ICM-repped Caviezel has starred in "The Stoning of Soraya M.," "Frequency," "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "The Passion of the Christ." He also recently had the title role in AMC's miniseries "The Prisoner."
Repped by Affirmative Entertainment, Frain ("The Count of Monte Cristo") most recently appeared in "Everybody's Fine." Next up are "Tron: Legacy" and "Water for Elephants."
And from Joblo.com:
Jim Caviezel & "True Blood's" James Frain join After Dark thriller Transit
by: Jared Pacheco Aug. 25, 2010
It was less than 24 hours ago that Moises informed us all that After Dark Films had a thriller on the way called TRANSIT. Now this new thriller isn't exactly horror persay but it seems like it falls under the category of 'violent thriller,' which we love here at AITH! So we're going to go ahead and roll with it.
So what news could I possibly be bringing to you less than a day after the film is announced? Why more casting news of course! According to The Hollywood Reporter both Jim Caviezel and James Frain have just signed on to the project. The two actors join the previously announced Elisabeth Rohm, Harold Perrineau and Diora Baird in the film, which Antonio Negret is directing from a script by Michael Gilvary.
In the story line, thieves on the run from a bank robbery come across a suburban family on its way to a camping trip. When the criminals stash their stolen money in the family's SUV at a rest stop, the road trippers unwittingly draw the murderous band of outlaws on their trail.
Rohm will play the mother of the family with Caviezel signed on as the father. Perrineau and Baird have already been pegged as two of the thieves. It's unknown what role Frain will play in the film but one can speculate he'll also be a thief. No telling exactly when this one will start filming but I'm going to go ahead and assume it'll be soon! As soon as we hear more about TRANSIT we'll be sure to pass the good word along to all of you!
So, the two former castmates from "Count of Monte Cristo" (that title always makes me want to head to a diner) are cast together again. Mr. Frain will no doubt be one of the "thieves on the run," because he just will, and we will be thrilled to see him in this production. Even though the storyline sounds about as fresh as a New York commuter at 7 PM we'll be there cheering his criminal bad boy self on because we know he'll make it fresh!
Internet Movie Database has updated their Transit page with the full cast and crew. According to this, James is playing a character named "Marek." Thanks to Teri for the heads up!

Here is a brief clip from tonight's episode 34 of True Blood - I Smell a Rat. Jason and Tara share the grimy task of cleaning up the fresh gooey remains of the truely dead Franklin Mott. It take's place in the same parking lot where Jason killed Tara's boyfriend Eggs, something she does not yet know about in this clip. Now, I know there's a "Stake & Eggs" joke to be had somewhere in there, but here at AJF, we simply want to give recognition to another great Frain role by sharing Mott's final "appearance" on the program. Oh Franklin, we'll miss you, you great big fangy freak!
Speaking of missing Mr. Mott, there's a discussion going on at HBO's True Blood page - Talbot or Franklin: Who Will You Miss More? I say apples and oranges to that, but of course we're have our obvious druthers here. Who will we miss more? Well, Franklin of course! Talbot was lovely, but Mr. Mott was far more entertaining.
Be forwarned, adult content abounds in these videos.
Okey Dokey. Let's see...vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, now fairies and backwoods hillbilly panthers? I think I'll wait for the first stampede of alligator-unicorns to make ready my escape! It's hard to imagine this show without James Frain's Franklin, but then again, it's hard to imagine just what more this series could possibly have in store.

August 18, 2010
Barely are the warm messy remains of Franklin Mott scraped up and buried in the woods outside Merlottes when James Frain's role is being referred to in the past tense on Daemons TV.com. They have the first pictures of James in his guest role on "Leverage:"
Check out the first photos of James Frain guest starring on an upcoming episode of LEVERAGE "The King George Job" Season 3 Episode 12 which airs on Sunday August 29 2010 at 9pm on TNT. Frain was recently guest starring on season 3 of True Blood and will appear in the new NBC Series The Cape.
Episode Synopsis: LEVERAGE "The King George Job" Season 3 Episode 12 – Sophie must face her past, as the Leverage team go after a black market antiquities trafficker who takes advantage of refugee children.
Sophie's [Gina Bellman] accessories are well over the top, but isn't Mr. Frain sporting quite a lovely tie? Glad to see he cleans up well after his unfortunate end in Bon Temps.

Did you happen to check out "True Blood" tonight? Well, THAT seems rather final. Like brains on the bed sheets could be a question, I'd say this covers the "seeing is believing" cat-e-GORE-y quite definitely. I have to say, the psycho had it coming. But really, to be undone by the likes of Jason Stackhouse? I'd say Franklin may not have recovered all of those sociopathic vampire detective brain bits!
On the good side, what an incredible role this has been for James Frain to strut his stuff. Wow, he's been nothing short of amazing as Franklin Mott! What a great run. And when it comes to Alan Ball and "True Blood," never say "die." Anything is possible (though certainly not guaranteed), by way of flashbacks or even future nightmares by poor post-traumatic Tara. We could see Franklin rise again. Tomorrow is another night!
First, Franklin's Demise as described in HBO's synopsis of Everything is Broken:
In the parking lot of Merlotte's, Tara watches the truck drive off and is horrified as Franklin appears and grabs her. He's enraged that someone he "loved" would try to kill him, but Tara is finished playing his games. "If you're gonna f**kin' kill me, then kill me" she tells him. "What's taking' you so long?" But before Franklin can go through with it, Jason arrives and blasts the vampire through the chest with a wooden bullet, reducing Franklin to a pool of blood.
EWwwww......!
Warning: The following videos may contain adult content.
And now we'll have turn our attention towards James' upcoming projects and trust his real life leads to many more reel life roles. Go Frain man, go!!
August 11, 2010
Greetings James Frain fans and the simply Frain curious. Sorry we have not updated in the past week or so, this one-pc web-hub has been down, but we're back now! So let's see a bit of what Mr. Frain has been up to in AJF's short sojourn from cyberspace.
First of all, he was a miss from the the August 1st episode of True Blood. Busy no doubt recovering from getting his Mott-ly brains bashed in. He did however show up in Bon Temps on August 8, but just long enough for a quick shower. There was also a brief mention that " they couldn't get Franklin's brains out of the guest linens." We can't wait to see what Mr. Mott's next appearance will bring! This weeks TB videos can be viewed below.
James will be appearing on TNT's Leverage on August 29. - Synopsis from TV Guide listings - Leverage Episode: "The King George Job"
Season 3, Episode 12
Episode Synopsis: London's calling, as the high-tech do-gooders journey to England to ensnare a morally bankrupt antiquities trafficker who's exploiting children as smuggling mules. But while in London, Sophie is haunted by her past. Original Air Date: Aug 29, 2010.
Gee, I wonder who the morally bankrupt antiques dealer will be played by? Now if they used antiques to smuggle refugee children, that would be different!
There's a great interview Mr. Frain did an HBO interview for Romania (yeah, really) which you can read here - HBO România. We may get to adding it to our Press page in a bit if we can aquire a decent translation. Right now, if you hit "translate into English, the results can be a bit, shall we say creative and mind numbing, not unlike good performance art. Basically it says that he is really really busy, has a very happy family life with his wife and two children, paints and draws for fun and plans on world domination in the next 5 years. What more could anyone hope for? Good on you James!!
He has officially landed himself in the non-sense that is the "celebrity-sighting" business, getting a mention in "Spotted" on July 29th from OK magazine online, True Blood vampire James Frain sipping ONEHOPE wine at a BAFTA event at Soho House in L.A.. (((sigh))) Exciting, n'est pas?
Finally, the very latest mention can be found at Daylife with a lovely photo of the very non-undead James Frain sporting a decidedly un-British California tan as he appeared yesterday in West Hollywood. The caption for the photo reads - Actor James Frain arrives to the Nylon and Express' Denim Issue Party at The London Hotel on August 10, 2010 in West Hollywood, California.
I'm certain that there are plenty more Frain friendly findings that we've missed ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. But we are continually grateful for his new found "fame" mostly so that he'll get as much work as he likes and that more and more people can see what we've appreciated oh-so-much for so many years. That James Frain is an extraordinary actor, a lovely man and if Denis O'Hare is to be believed [and why not?] - "a leprechaun disguised as an Englishman."
This weeks HBO video shares. As always, thank you HBO and as always - beware of the bad bad potty mouths, mostly from or thanks to writer Raelle Tucker. This girl needs a good mouth washing!

July 30, 2010
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Can you believe it? Yet MORE James Frain embedded wonderment to be shared! Thanks to Access Hollywood and to Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain for the heads up on but one more wonderful interview with our no longer enigmatic, under-appreciated favorite actor! The world is indeed catching on and catching up! Click play and enjoy!
James Frain chats with AccessHollywood.com's Laura Saltman at the Wired Café about his "True Blood" character — why does he think he's always playing the bad guy? Plus, what is his NBC new show, "The Cape," about? Also, what can he reveal about his role in "Tron: Legacy"?
July 27, 2010
Right, we're gonna try an offical NBC video again. Just for fun. Here goes:
Hurrah, it seems to work. Thanks NBC! And Carol!
July 26, 2010
From Movie Web.com:
It seems that we are not done with James at Comic Con just yet! Hurrah! Thanks to group member Valentine [for the link info] and our lovely Carol , both of Facebook Fans of James Frain, we have yet another terrific interview with James and Dorian Missink about their upcoming series "The Cape" plus a word or two about "True Blood." Poor Dorian, he's a rock star for standing by holding the purse as James answers queries about Franklin Mott. I'm sure James would return the favor, dontcha think?
Oh, so many snippets to behold! Grab some popcorn and a beverage, but try not to get the keyboard messy. And, uh, speaking of messy, we'd like to point out {again!} that there is mayhem, violence, blood and most likely plenty of rude language running amuck in these delightful videos which HBO, in it's kind thoughtfulness to us fans, has sought to provide. Carry on...

from The Awful Truth:
Today 1:05 PM PDT by Ted Casablanca and Taryn Ryder
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may not have been in San Diego this year, but there certainly was a Robsten effect. Namely, that there weren't as many crazy paparazzi stalking the convention center, that is once they heard Brad Pitt was a no-show.
Since there was no viciously stalked couple to get that money shot of, this year it felt as though Comic-Con was almost given back to the geeks. There were a ton of hyped movies (The Avengers, Tron, Thor) and somehow the buzz at the fest was—gasp—actually about the films and TV shows and not so much the actors' personal lives. Still, while wandering around San Diego with some of our favorite peeps (Joe Manganiello, Ryan Reynolds, Eva Mendes), we came up with five random things you should take away from the festival:
1. Angelina Jolie Is Queen of the Nerds: While polling tons of Con goers inside the convention center, practically every hardcore attendee agreed on which star is the nicest to fans: Angie. One guy even had 14 autographs from her throughout the years, saying he's never been to an event where she doesn't make time for the people. The worst, according to said autograph collectors? Scarlett Johansson.
2. True Blood Cast Likes Shirtless Joe M., Too: T.B. folks are totally cool with HBO's hot werewolf taking over the nearly naked scenes, albeit for different reasons than we may have. "[Joe] has been the one having to do a lot of the gratuitous scenes, and that's good by me," laughed one of our fave vamp newbies, James Frain.
Seriously, we think Alan Ball is thisclose to penning a full-frontal scene for one of the dudes. "At this point it would have to be Joe," joked Frain again in his yummy accent when we asked which dude it would most likely be.
3. Yes, Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson Are Married: We forget all the time that Ryan and ScarJo have rings on it, since we never see them out together. Ryan was in S.D. to promote The Green Lantern and S. surprised fans at The Avengers panel. While the couple still weren't seen hanging together at the festival, a studio source tells us Johansson was very excited and accommodating when approached about coming to Comic-Con because she really wanted to spend time with her busy hubby. With Blake Lively's boobfest, we don't blame Mrs. Reynolds!
4. Eva Mendes Not in Batman 3—Yet: Aaron Eckhart told us he's not sure what's going on with Christopher Nolan's third Batman flick, yet some of those fab geek sites claim Eva is in talks to star in the three-quel. When we asked the stunner at Comic-Con what's up, she said, "I haven't heard anything about it" regarding the possible casting. Would she want to do a Batman flick? "I'd have to see the script!"
5. Being a Movie Star at Comic-Con Isn't Everything: Entertainment Weekly and Syfy's Con party Saturday night drew out a slew of celebs—but a few of them had trouble getting in. Thor star and über-Aussie hottie Chris Hemsworth was denied entrance to the fete for about 40 minutes. Maybe it was the insanely crowded party, or the guy manning the elevator didn't catch the Thor sneak peaks, but we're told Chris couldn't get in and couldn't have been cooler about it. He sat at the lobby bar with his brother while the PR girls sorted it out and got him inside.
From Fear Net:
From NBC:
I've tried embedding the video that NBC so generously provided the code for, but it does not seem to be "taking." So, we will make do with the link :
Thank you Carol & NBC!! Also thanks to my cousin Michael who was in the front row of the audience at this panel and for his input - Very short panel with cast following a screening of the first episode. The show was pretty good, but I'm not sure if it will catch on. Derivitive of a lot of other comic book things. Not sure if it will be uniquely "cool" enough.
Yes, well, time will tell. Break a comic book leg all!

True Blood's newest vampire, Franklin, played by British actor James Frain (of The Tudors), is a delightfully sick bounty hunter who falls madly in love with a human, Tara (Rutina Wesley). He's a possessive fellow with a sadistic streak, and we spoke to Frain about playing him for laughs, his weirdly long fangs, and what the heck a British vamp is doing in Louisiana.
Did you know, initially, what this character was all about?
No, they didn't actually tell me much at all. I went to an audition and we had a couple of scenes — the first meeting with Tara at the bar, and then one of the scenes in which I'm really distraught at her trying to get away, and really, there was nothing about it that seemed like it wasn't just a torturous romantic story. It wasn't until I started filming it, and started getting these scripts coming in, when I was like, Oookay! All right! I guess I'm a psycho.
Did that make you happy?
I thought it was fun. I'd have a line like, "Look how fast I can text!" And I mean, that was just hilarious. I hoped that the audience would be onboard for the ride. It seems to be working, and I'm happy that the humour came out.
How did they actually film that texting scene?
It's weird, the vamp-speed stuff you have to do in super-slow motion, and then they speed it up. If you do it in regular speed, it doesn't work. So have to keep super still and do it very slow.
How did you and Rutina Wesley (Tara) do that without cracking up?
I did laugh. And they just kept filming until I stopped! That scene was so much fun, and that had to come through as part of it.
Your fangs are scragglier than other vampires'.
Mine were crazy long. I don't know why — that's the design choice they made, but I don't know where it came from. I went and got them fitted, and they handed them to me, and I didn't know until I got to set that everyone else had smaller fangs than I did. I was like, Does this mean I get to go to the front of the lunch queue? And you sound really silly indeed when you talk with them. I think they were trying to make some comment about the character.
It almost feels like Franklin and Tara are a good match.
If there's any feeling of that, then that's fantastic! He's just trying to get her to wake up and see that this is the relationship she's been dreaming of! [Laughs.]
You seem to specialize in playing bad guys.
Yeah, creepy characters. I've definitely been there before. But this guy's pretty special. I didn't really think of him as a vampire, but more of as this abusive boyfriend guy who happens to have gotten bit and has strange sleeping habits.
Your next big project is The Cape, a new superhero show on NBC.
Yes. If you can believe it, I play the bad guy.
Did you know that you were going to use your own accent in True Blood?
Normally, I like the idea of doing the American thing, and I was assuming that they'd want to go with the Louisiana accent. But I got this note saying, "Do it in my own accent," and I thought, That's kind of fun. But no one ever mentions it in the show, no one ever says, "Are you English or what? What the f*ck's going on with you? You sound weird!" But I like that no one mentions it; in this world of vampires, and werewolves, and heinous, incredible things, one of the strangest things to me is that there's this British guy, and no one talks about how he's a Brit! By virtue of its own simplicity, it becomes the weirdest thing about the show.

Although James Frain is starring as Jeff Bridges "right-hand-man" Jarvis in Tron: Legacy, he was not part of the Legacy panel at San Diego's Comic Con today. According to an article - SDCC: Live Bloggin' the Tron Legacy Panel posted on Coming Soon.net, this was the panel composed of cast and crew: director Joseph Kosinski, producer Sean Bailey, producer and director of the original Tron Steven Lisberger, and cast members Garrett Hedlund (Sam Flynn), Olivia Wilde (Quorra), Michael Sheen (Castor), Bruce Boxleitner (Alan Bradley) and Jeff Bridges (in the double role of Kevin Flynn and his alter-ego, Clu).
The film's synopsis is as follows - Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant, father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
The panel photo here is from another article about today's panel posted on the Wall Street Journal's SPEAKEASY blog - Comic-Con 2010: Jeff Bridges Calls 'Tron: Legacy' 'Pretty Psychedelic'. It's great fun to read - "An exclusive eight minutes of the film and the full-length trailer were also aired for the first time, causing the room to erupt with cheering."
The film is set to hit theaters on December 17th, Tron Legacy stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen and will hit regular theaters and IMAX in both 2D and 3D. We do have the new feature trailer to share (thank you Yahoo!), which, alas we also do not see James in. Perhaps James Frain will show up at some point in the next 5 months in some of the publicity for the film? Until then, we remain hopeful for a glimpse of Jarvis and wait ever-so-patiently for December to get here.

Well, okay, enough non-True Blood news then. Back to business we are. The darling Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain pointed out this wonderful tribute to Frain's Franklin posted on You Tube by "sparralex." Bless sparralex who seems to have like sensibilities and at the top of the video's description they write: "Warning: There's explicit language in this video! Beware"
I for one - (this site's webmaster) am spectacularly against vulgarity. It and so much else make today's global culture something to distain more oft than not. That being said, James Frain's very short tenure (a mere 4 episodes thus far) on True Blood has been an amazment to behold! He embodies this bad boy with every facet of passion's spectrum - joy, tenderness, pathos, insanity and hilarity. We are hooked hookahs!

There are lots and lots of True Blood buzz and reviews and articles to be had all over the Internet. You are welcome to cruise the super highway to find them all. Meanwhile, time and a heat wave limit us here at AJF to a choice few items, always with hope of more to follow. One fun item this week is to be found in the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly magazine. For their online news of "True Blood," use this link - EW True Blood Central.
Here is the main photo of an article entitled "New Bloods" about the latest additions to the cast, and the segment featuring James Frain. (Click photo to enlarge)
JAMES FRAIN
Stars as Franklin Mott, a sinister vampire detective looking for dirt on Bill.
Where you've seen him Best known for his role as Thomas Cromwell on Showtime's The Tudors, the 42-year-old Brit has also appeared on FlashForward, 24, and Californification.
An inconvenient tooth The show's vampires get individually molded fangs, but removing the custom-crafted canines can be a challenge. "I couldn't get them off," admits Frain. "All the practiced vampires flip them in and out. You can tell [who] the new people [are] because they're struggling to get them out."
All in a days work In a showdown between the heavy costumes on The Tudors and the "hilarious amount of chunky gristle" actors encounter on True Blood, Frain says the regal period clothing was much more than an occupational hazard. "You've got on a fur coat, jacket, shirt, and we're indoors in the summer shooting and they couldn't use the AC because it makes too much noise," he says.
What's next for Franklin Though he's on assignment for the King of Mississippi, Franklin gets sidetracked when he falls for tara (Rutina Wesley). "His idea of love proves he's a psycopath," Ball says. "It's all narcissistic. He basically sees her as something that is his."
It is a Joy to watch Franklin Mott unravel in James Frain's expert hands. Long may he fang! The fun vamps along...

As promised, here are some new True Blood videos to share care of HBO. *** A warning for the tender hearted - there is violence, mayhem and cursing in these videos, aka adult content. It's a "True Blood" thing that. We have a recap of episode 28, an "Inside the Episode," the latest "postmortem." Fun fun fun.
We'll add other True Blood videos as they come, and hey - maybe even some non-TB Frain related news!
Before even the third episode of True Blood including James Frain's Franklin Mott screened on HBO, the fan videos have been appearring. We love the "True Blood" crowd, they really seem to appreciate the new characters. And James' latest portrayal is a doozy! Great fun. Here's a good one! Thank you Carol for pointing out the fan vid links. We encourage you to go to Carol's Facebook page - Facebook Fans of James Frain for a more interactive Frain fan experience.
More James Frain True Blood wonderment, can you stand it?! We have previously embedded a wonderful HBO interview with Rutina Wesley and James talking about their characters Tara and Franklin as well as the show in general. Well, Frain fan katie clued us into this longer version which is - just that much more fun! To use katie's excellent observation, "[This is] the longer version of Rutina and James' serious and mature introduction to their charactors - well, Rutina is serious and mature and James is just James, bless him!! Well said lady, well said!
The next episode should be airing on July 11, 2010.
Meanwhile, if you saw last night's episode, you have questions. What's up with that mysterious dude Franklin? Is Sookie's new "bodyguard" Alcide going to seduce her away from Bill? And oh yeah, what's it really like to see Alexander Skarsgård fully naked? (I don't care, ahem, but word on the street is some of you fans do.)
Also, when does the jaw-dropping vampire porn really begin?
Here's what James Frain (Franklin), Kristin Bauer (Pam) and Joe Manganiello (Alcide) tell me...
Check out the video:
Also, things with Franklin get really freaky--in more ways than one.
According to James Frain, here's what's up with Franklin: "I can tell you that I've been sent on a mission, I got a little thing for Tara and that means that we take it somewhere a little hot...and then I can't tell you anymore." So how hot will it get? Well, watch the clip above for some gory details, but James also says this about how he prepared for the role: "I just had a lot of sex, for practice. On the night, you want to be very focused." What dedication to the craft!

James Frain has made his True Blood debut and we have a few choice chewie re-hashings of the episode "Beautifully Broken" to share. First, two HBO videos; a recap of the episode followed by an "Inside the Episode" - a look with many enjoyable insights from the episode's writer Raelle Tucker and director Scott Winant, here's HBO's own takes on Episode 2 of Season 3:
Well, that was my major interest, I confess. The wait is over!! That was FUN!
My favorite bit has to be a brief preview moment shown after this episode - with Franklin being greeted by Jessica at her & Bill's house. She hisses and shows her fangs and Mott comes back with his fangs and this awesome "sticking his tongue out" expression. Priceless! I expect their relationship will be interesting. Vampire detective and babysitter? While Bill's away...
I have no clue of the storyline and outcome of Franklin's character from the books, but even if early demise is intended (as is so often James Frain's history), it's been know to happen that hot characters find themselves with longer lives and storylines. I know I'm prejudiced, but I hope Mr. Mott sticks around a good long while. Vulnerable, dark and funny is my first impression. All this and he only shows his face forty nine minutes into a fifty five minute program. Brilliant.
Now, again, thanks to Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain and a lovely person on YouTube, plus the magical tool of embedding - we can show you the preview snippet we loved so very much. Jessica and Franklin's "fang-off." It appears at the end of this twenty four second promo from HBO. Oh yeah, and thank you HBO!
AUTHOR: Sandie
Bill
Sookie
Oh and fans will be happy to know there are a few Sookie and Eric moments as well.
Tara
Lafayette
These scenes between Lafayette and Tara are great, it's nice to see them support each other and get a bigger insight into their lives.
Eric
Jessica
Sam
Jason
However, it all sort of changes at the end when Jason makes an encounter with yet again a new character, Crystal Norris (played by Lindsay Pulsipher) for a split second (but we know this will lead to more in future episodes), as well as gets involved with something that will be talked about in the next episode.
One more thing...
Cliffhanger
from Buddy TV:
Friday, June 18, 2010
Here's the official HBO synopsis of the episode:
"Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, concocts a plan to consolidate his power. Eric remembers his past; Sam tests the strength of his family bonds; Tara finds an ally in a shady vampire named Franklin Mott."
After a premiere all about the characters we already know, episode 2 will introduce plenty of new faces like the Mississippi King (Denis O'Hare) and Tara's new love interest Franklin (James Frain).
For those of you who have HBO, you may well have seen the newest season of "True Blood" premiere. In fact, you can enjoy encores of the episode all week. For those who do not, here is an excellent and entertaining recap brought to you courtesy of
Entertainment Weekly. I found it nearly as entertaining as the show itself (well, nearly...) Thank you writer Mandi Bierly and again to our Carol, for the find!
As we are but a day away, hours even, we have the following HBO interview with Rutina Wesley and James Frain to share. It is a joy to see Rutina much more relaxed and secure than her Tara and James' very dry wit is a wonderful remedy to this humid spring weather! Thanks to HBO, "The Vault" and our Teri for the share.
What: Vampire
From the clips we've seen and what we've heard, Mott has ditched his Italian accent and mustache for the TV show. But it doesn't really matter, because this character is too good to mess up. He's the perfect blend of kindness and cruelty. Mott becomes the companion to the broken-hearted and unwilling Tara. Also he's completely insane — "Take off your clothes and do what I say while I smother your face with a pillow all the while whispering that you're beautiful" insane. This is the one character we're most excited to meet!
First we have a very brief video of James and wife Marta arriving at the Premiere, from "Pop Candy," Google ads and YouTube. Oh the prices to pay for a brief gander!
Thanks as ever, to our Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain for the heads up on these great videos for your embedded pleasure.
AJF has a NEW GALLERY commemorating the long awaited appearance of this new season of True Blood. You'll find the link on our Gallery page, in our update section below and - here -- True Blood ~ Franklin Mott.
Also below is the first preview we've seen with James as Peter Fleming. He's playing it American here (as is his Australian co-star David Lyons,) but that deep, sultry voice can't be beat in any accent.
THE CAPE page at IMDb --
Official NBC site The excellent official source, of course.
CAPESITE.net -- What looks to be an excellent commited source for The Cape community at large, their self description :
The Cape on Twitter for those of you lovable twits that tweet.
The number of caped superheroes appearing on television in the fall recently increased by one.
The Cape stars David Lyons as police officer Vince Faraday. Faraday gets caught up in a situation never seen before on television or in movies: He ends up framed for a series of murders. I know, crazy right? Faraday is presumed dead and goes into hiding, but leaves behind his wife and son, giving him a reason to remain connected to the real world in any way he can to keep them safe.
That way happens to be to don a hooded cape and superhero suit to battle the criminal element of Palm City. Cleverly enough, because Faraday dons a cape, he decides to call himself "The Cape" after his son's favorite comic book hero. Faraday has no actual superpowers to speak of, and is trained by a band of thieves.
Firefly's Summer Glau stars in the show as an investigative blogger also trying to take on crime and corruption in Palm City. She aides The Cape with her blogging expertise. The Cape's nemesis is billionaire Peter Fleming, played by James Frain, who seems to be the opposite of Bruce Wayne, moonlighting as a twisted killer named Chess rather than a hero with bat ears. The show sounds pretty cool, let's hope it's done right and worthy of DVR space.

NBC picks up 'Friends With Benefits,' 'The Cape'
NBC is going to look very different next season. The network has added another single-cam comedy to the pile: "Friends With Benefits" from 20th TV and Imagine and has given a series order to superhero drama "The Cape."
"Benefits" will remind some of a modern-day version of "Friends," about five young singles looking for romance. Also, the network made "Garza" pickup official (now called the more macho, and less ethnic, "Outlaw") and changed the title of "Kindreds" to "Harry's Law." Also, the network made the "Chuck" renewal official.
And according to NBC, that's an upfront wrap when it comes to new shows. Bromstad quote:
"The addition of these four inventive series to our new scripted lineup demonstrates a wide spectrum of creative stories," Bromstad said. "We are featuring popular, top-flight stars along with a strong pedigree of successful writer-producers. Likewise, 'Chuck' has proven its enduring appeal and we love the new creative direction that Josh and Chris have taken the show."
Here's some extended loglines:

With the new Tron Legacy trailer we posted recently, as well as the viral sites
and artwork and even an adapted Monorail train, the hype for Disney's 3D follow
up is gaining incredible momentum. But let's not forget the original film,
which was groundbreaking in its day and is sure to be revisited a lot this year
before December rolls around.
Brandon Schaefer is a talented graphic designer who occasionally makes film
posters for fun. Today he posted a new poster for the original Tron. It's a
really nice clean design and makes good use of the iconic Light Cycle image.
What do you think?

The original Tron is soon to be released on Blu-Ray and the sequel, Tron

New York, NY — February 26, 2010 — Legendary cult movie producer Roger Corman
unleashes a nightmarish half dinosaur-half shark onto a resort area and James
Frain (The Tudors) portrays a knight battling a murderous demon in Syfy's March
Saturday Original Movies.
Airing Saturday, March 27, at 9PM (ET/PT), Dark Relic stars Frain as a
battle-weary warrior leading his men home after years of fighting. But the Holy
Relic he's carrying contains a terrible curse, which frees a bloodthirsty
demon. Sir Gregory (Frain) and some unlikely allies confront this scourge from
Hell to stop the spread of an unspeakable evil. Dark Relic is a production of
Battle Productions, LLC.
Also a big thank you again to writer Andy Brigg for personally answering our
email of last summer (ahh, remember summer?) with the plotline which we will
repeat here:
James plays Sir Gregory, a Knight of the First Crusade who is fighting an
internal battle over his ebbing faith. We begin the story as the war finishes,
and the Knights are searching for a suitable gift from the Holy Land to give to
the Holy Father in praise of their victory. Sir Gregory and his Knights
discover a piece of the true cross and set off to Rome to present it to the
Holy See.
Along their journey, Gregory saves Rebecca, a young serf and an atheist - with
whom he grows close to. They befriend a brave Muslim warrior, who joins the
Christian Knights on their adventure, and slowly rekindles their faith -
especially as their journey is hampered by a serious of terrible "biblical"
events, that build in magnitude until they finally realize their "prize" has a
darker secret... and something terrible is hunting them down...
Sorry if we've become "All True Blood" lately, there is more James news to be had, such as his appearances in the film "Water for Elephants", tv series "Leverage" and upcoming starring role in "The Cape," but patience...we will get to it all in good time. Meanwhile, enjoy the awesome vamp weirdness we have to share. You may also like to visit our new, ever-updating Gallery of Franklin Mott screen caps. Have a look, do!

Enjoying the return of True Blood? Then you'll really appreciate this bloody good news: HBO has just confirmed its hit vampire series will return for a fourth season!
First, you should know: There will be two big sex shockers in this Sunday's third episode of True Blood. Get ready!
Interesting insight there - James got this job before all the facts. Lucky for us, Mr. Frain was prepared for the challenge! Hopefully HBO will want more and more and more of Mott!
June 21, 2010
James Frain's Franklin Mott enigmatic you say? Hmmm, now where have we heard that before?
June 20, 2010

Last week's TRUE BLOOD was exciting because not only was it the premiere of the much anticipated show's third season, but because it lived up to all of our expectations and left us on quite the cliffhanger. This week in True Blood's "Beautifully Broken" it's time to meet the werewolves!
When we last saw him he found himself in a very bad situation surrounded by werewolves. Well, we soon find out that the werewolves are not really a match for vampires. But that's not the most important of course, we finally learn a little bit more about Bill's kidnappers and what they want from him, and trust me it's not really what you would have expected. This actually leads us to meet a couple of new characters, including the King of Mississippi Russell Edgington (played by Denis O'Hare), that I have a feeling we'll be seeing quite a lot of this season. But that's not all, in this episode we also get to see someone from last season return, but I'll let you guess who.
Sookie continues on her quest to find Bill. The best part for Sookie in this episode is her imitating the way Bill says "Sookie," it's a really short moment, but so much fun.
After trying to kill herself, she makes quite an interesting encounter this season with a vampire named Franklin Mott (played by James Frain), whom might become one of my favorite characters because he so badass.
Lafayette goes to visit his mom in a psychiatric hospital and brings Tara with him to try and get her to see how she could wound up. There we meet another new character this season, Jesus Velasquez (played by Kevin Alejandro) whom Lafayette seems to become very fond of.
Eric decides to help Sookie find Bill after he realizes she might be in danger as well. Which leads to the scenes I mentioned above between him and Sookie. And as a bonus, Godric makes an appearance in a flashback (I miss him!)
Jessica is still trying to deal with the aftermath of her kill and it's not pretty, not pretty at all. However the good news is we get a mini Hoyt/Jessica scene, but the bad news is that it's really short (booo!).
If you've been following the "Waiting Sucks" promos for True Blood, well then you'll know what I'm talking about when I say that we finally get to see the full scene of Sam in the car with a gun pointing at his face. But that's just a small part of the story, the biggest part of the episode is that Sam finally gets to meet his family. I don't want to say too much about how it all goes, but so far I'm really enjoying this part of the story and it's nice to see Sam getting his own separate storyline.
Not much going on with Jason for most of the episode apart for him and Andy having a few scenes together, and a great scene between him and Sookie where he has some pretty great Jason lines including "Is big foot real too?"
I also have to mention that my favorite part of the episode was finding out all the different types of dish you could make out of blood including gelato (no kidding!), now that was pretty awesome!
This week's episode ends with a bang, literally. That's all I'll say.
That's about it for this episode which lasts about 55 minutes (how great is that?) and I can't wait for next week.

Senior Writer, BuddyTV
Season 3 of True Blood got off to a great start with fast and furious action, quick-moving storylines and a lot of sex. The second episode promises to keep that momentum going with more blood and some new faces we'll be seeing a lot of this season.
June 15, 2010
Rutina Wesley appears on "Good Day LA" to talk up True Blood. A nice little video segment, though we pay for it with commercials. Even with the chatty and crowded host panel, Rutina holds her own. We see a new clip of Franklin (James Frain) glamouring his way into Tara's (Rutina Wesley) home and perhaps heart? Thank you Teri for passing along the link!!
June 14, 2010
It was just an hour of HBO produced Vamp drama, but the much anticipated premiere did not dissapoint. There looks to be [what's the word Carol and Jason?] - grittiness and blood galore aplenty coming our way. Lots of new characters, supernatural groups - werewolves and shapeshifters and terrific suspense about who gets to survive. At AJF, our greatest attention will be to see the upcoming introduction of James Frain as Vampire detective Franklin Mott and follow the mystery of why he's in Bon Temps, who he is working for, what he's looking for and just how long he will survive. Because frankly, his characters survival track record over the past twenty years hasn't been all that good! Fingers and fangs crossed for Franklin!
June 12, 2010
You'd think from the crashing waves of major publicity for this third season of True Blood, that HBO was afraid no one was going to tune in. Well, gone are the days of Television publicity being relegated to the one TV Guide Fall Preview guide and the three major networks. Now we are subjected to the thrills (overwhelmed even?) of twits tweeting, bloggers blogging, trailers, print articles with photos galore, commercials round the clock and even actors interviewing each other! And in case you hadn't heard - the third season of "True Blood" will air on HBO on Sunday at 9:00 PM (EST). That's tomorrow.
Thanks to Carol again of Facebook Fans of James Frain, we have this wonderful introduction to many of this season's new character, including our favorite (of course) - James Frain -

June 9, 2010
On Tuesday night, June 8, at the Arclight Cinerama Dome theater in LA HBO had it's premiere of Season 3. Most of the cast, old and new were on hand to enjoy their good fortune and promote the new season. Thanks to "Entertainment Tonight," we have these cast interviews to share. James Frain is his usual charming self in describing his new role (vampire detective?). It's great to see all of these dark characters being less grim and dangerous for a moment or two. Ah........just a few more days now!
And just a reminder - we have a new Gallery of Franklin Mott screen caps which we have been adding to. Have a gawk!
Official True Blood page at - HBO.

Here's a bit more of a preview that gives a good visual synopsis of the story of "The Cape," including a nice peek at some of the circus folk who will be Vince Faraday's mentors. There is also a very brief appearance of James as Chess. He's got an excellent jaw for the masked man look! Oh, there's good times ahead...
And before another evening comes to a close, here, courtesy of i09 is a lovely cast photo of the promised new caped contender with a few main cast members - (beginning center, going clockwise) Dave Lyons, the lovely James Frain, Dorian Missick, Keith David, Summer Glau, Jennifer Ferrin & Ryan Wynott. It seems like there will be a whole lot more to look forward to before "mid-season" even arrives.
In this preview Vince (David Lyons) and his cop friend Marty Voyt (Dorian Missick) meet the supercilious supervillain Fleming/Chess.
Thanks to our Carol of Facebook Fans of James Frain for getting to us with the info first. So much buzz, so little time to google...
Be assured we shall be updating any fun facts coming this way regarding "The Cape." Here's a couple of links...
The latest addition to the KryptonSite Network, focusing on the upcoming NBC television series The Cape starring David Lyons, Summer Glau, and James Frain.
The official buzz begins. Here we go. May 16, 2010 NBC has just announced it's fall line-up. Word is that "The Cape" will be premiering mid-season, though no date is given. However, there is now a page for the program - NBC - The Cape, on which we found the following preview. No James Frain yet. But all in good time my pretties...
There is also a brand spanking new fan page for the series on Facebook -- like? Facebook The Cape. Thank you NBC for sharing.
Best news ever - "The Cape" has been picked up for the fall line up on NBC. We can now look forward to seeing a regularly scheduled dose of Frain made villiany. Now, my Mama says "Why do they always make the beautiful looking men the bad guys?" I don't know Mama, but the Frain man does it oh-so-well!

NBC has announced that it's picking up one-hour television show The Cape for the Fall 2010 broadcast season. The Cape is another journey for the network into superhero territory, but the series' main character has more in common with Batman than characters from NBC's now-canceled Heroes.
Image via Capesite.net
From the Hollywood Reporter:
"The Cape" is a one-hour drama series starring David Lyons ("ER") as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin, "Life on Mars") and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott, "Flash Forward"). Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Faraday becomes "The Cape" his son's favorite comic book superhero -- and takes the law into his own hands. Rounding out the cast are James Frain ("The Tudors") as billionaire Peter Fleming - The Cape's nemesis - who moonlights as the twisted killer: Chess; Keith David ("Death at a Funeral") as Max Malini, the ringleader of a circus gang of bank robbers who mentors Vince Faraday and trains him to be The Cape; Summer Glau ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") as Orwell, an investigative blogger who wages war on crime and corruption in Palm City; and Dorian Missick ("Six Degrees") as Marty Voyt, a former police detective and friend to Faraday.

Busy, busy, BUSY Mr. Frain is not only involved in recurring roles in True Blood and Flash Forward, but is also taking part in an NBC TV series pilot called "The Cape," just starred in the SyFy film Dark Relic and has a major supporting role in the upcoming Tron sequel. He has also just appeared on the new CBS series Miami Medical on Friday, May 14, 2010. We have a synopsis from the program below from a Daemon's TV article. Unfortunatedly, CBS does not share full episodes online, so if you missed it, keep a lookout for the episode "Man on the Road" to air again - Fridays at 10:00 PM in North America.

So, yes, this does not refer to the

film which sports James as Jarvis, but hey - it all adds to the hype!
Thursday, March 11, BREAKING NEWS! From our dear friend Carol at
Facebook Fans of James Frain
:
THE CAPE (NBC) - James Frain ("The Tudors") has joined the cast of the drama
pilot, about Vince ...Faraday (David Lyons), a disgraced former cop who,
inspired by his son's favorite comic book, becomes a masked hero named "The
Cape" to clear his name. He'll play Peter Fleming, the Chairman and CEO of the
Blackwater-esque Lynx Corporation, who moonlights as "Chess," a murderous
villain. Chess is described as wearing a tight black mask in which only his
freakish eyes - contact lenses bearing a rook and knight emblem - are visible.
Dorian Missick also stars as Marty Voyt, a friend of Vince's who tries to
recruit him to join Lynx's security forces. Tom Wheeler is behind the Universal
Media Studios-based hour, which Simon West is directing.
Wowie wow wow wow! Great news and about time too! This will be amazing, if
done well and hopefully will get picked up. Of course then it will have to
survive the rough world of "new show chess" which the networks play, but then -
hey, it could end up in new episodes on Cable. Yes, yes, we are getting
ahead of ourselves. Just wishing the best for Mr. Frain. These days it
takes talent and a whole lot of luck!
Our dear friend Teri discovered a review of the script for this very pilot
which was posted online at the Comic Book Industry site
