James Frain has done advertisment voice overs as well as radio work for some time. Beginning in 2001, without noticable fanfare, he has begun a nice steady flow of audio book narration. This is a list of what books and radio production releases we are aware of. He also did a small voice part (listed on our "Filmography" page), in the animated film "Miracle Maker" as "Doubting" Thomas -- yet another complex character.
This genre, reminiscent of the golden days of radio drama, is proving to be a wonderful home for Mr. Frain's gifts. His amazing talent for accents is matched only by his remarkable ability to transform into any age, gender, ethnicity or personality in every era; all without aid of greasepaint, wigs or tights. The make-up and wardrobe people's loss is surely our gain.
For our own page of synopsis' and reviews of James Frain's audio work, please see the link after the list. We look forward to hearing much more of this splendid work.
Speaking of hearing this work, here are links to a few James Frain soundbites on the Web:
- MGM page for Loch Ness - This is the official webpage for the fun family film Loch Ness (1995). There are several stills, but more fun, several sound bites including two of James as the irrepressible, dare we say - adorable Adrian Foote. They also provide a synopsis, list of the cast and an opportunity to "own it today" on DVD.
- Man and Wife - by Tony Parsons. This link is to a soundbite found at Playtime Books which sells this wonderful audio book - 'Man and Wife' is a powerful love story with a very moral twist – and it's pure Parsons magic
