JF On The Homecoming -- "To interrogate this as a naturalistic play is to miss it; You sort of have to play it as a classic play disguised as a naturalistic one. It's normal speech, but it's poetic. It's funny but brutal; devastating but hilarious."
On Career Highlights --
"On stage,
Other People
at the Royal Court was a highlight. Christopher Shinn is a wonderful writer.
He's got a new play coming up at the Court, called
Where Do We Live
, that features two of the same characters from
Other People
. It's set just before and just after 11 September and sounds fascinating."
On
King Lear
--
"I love the play and Edmund is a great part. I also wanted to be part of the
whole 'Almeida moment' under Jonathan Kent and Ian McDiarmid, and this was the
last chance to do it. One of my first jobs was as acting ASM (assistant stage
manager) at the Almeida and it was always my ambition to return. "

Here is a video of Michael McKean being interviewed on a local news program. He mentions all his co-stars, plus there is footage of the play interspersed in the interview. Fun!
This is a small fun sequence from Theater TALK with Ian McShane and Raul Esparza discussing the rehearsal process of "The Homecoming"
